Caroline DeKeyster

“Angel Squad is a charismatic event, full of positive energy that draws people in,” says Caroline DeKeyster, MHC President & CEO, enthusiastically over the phone.
Angel Squad draws in the community, including students from surrounding schools, dignitaries and even local celebrities! The annual gathering of angels is a show of community spirit, giving and volunteering.
Angels will not be gathering this year for the silver anniversary, but Caroline notes: “It’s important for us to keep the spirit of Angel Squad going.”
“This year there’s more ways to connect than ever – we’re inviting the wider community to participate.”
Stories are a way of connecting through the rich history of the event as well as fond personal memories. Over the last 11 years at Misericordia and participating in Angel Squad, Caroline has many cherished Angel Squad memories.
“One of my favourite Angel Squad memories is of the ‘angels in training.’ A group of young angels would raise money selling lemonade in the summer and save the proceeds to give the Angel Squad every December.”
Angel Squad marks the start of the holiday season for Misericordia. It’s a time when people have their hearts open and tend to give. And as the saying goes: when you give, you get back tenfold.
“Angel Squad embodies the Misericordia Sister’s value of compassion of the heart for those in need. I invite you all to join me in treasuring the legacy of the Sisters and give what you can.”
