Rachel Lagacé

Angel Squad holds a warm place in CTV Morning Live reporter Rachel Lagacé’s heart.
Rachel typically covers the Misericordia Foundation’s Angel Squad, bringing angelic scenes into Manitobans’ homes early December every year.
“I usually arrive [at Misericordia] at 5 a.m. in the dark, and the place is already buzzing with volunteers in gowns, wings and halos,” recalled Rachel, “and wearing thick winter coats!”
When Rachel summons memories of Angel Squad, “I think of cold feet. Cold hands. Cold weather. And very warm hearts.
“There are kids singing Christmas carols, cars honking as they drive by, drive-thru donations,” Rachel said. “It’s so festive. Yes, it’s cold. But there is warm coffee and there are warm people …” her voice trails off.
“I miss hanging out with people, especially as Christmas approaches. It’s usually a time to gather.”
Rachel is doing all her interviews now with Skype due to COVID-19 precautions.
“One thing I do know is that the community will pull together for Angel Squad,” said Rachel. “Even though I can’t see it first-hand, I know it’s still happening: Manitobans always come through.”
