Because of generous donors like you, we raised more than $60,000 in support of long-term care at Misericordia Health Centre. Thank you!
Celebrating 25 years of Angel Squad!
This year marks the silver anniversary of Angel Squad! Twenty-five years of celebrating and supporting Misericordia Health Centre’s programs, services and health-care providers that touch the lives of tens of thousands of Manitobans annually.
Since the first year of Angel Squad, staff, volunteers and community members have lined up on the Maryland Bridge all the way to MHC. However, this December, we’ll have to do things a little differently – the health and safety of our supporters and the community at large is of utmost importance.
For 25 days leading up to December 1, we’ll be sharing stories from past years of Angel Squad. And on December 1, Giving Tuesday, trees will be lit up in front of Misericordia to celebrate incredible support from Manitobans like you.
Community, donor and sponsor support is critical – now, more than it ever has been – to help bring tidings of comfort and joy to more than 200 older adults who call Misericordia home. Together, we can raise $25,000 in 25 days to support long-term care at MHC, ensuring the holiday season is merry and bright for residents and patients.

Your donation will have a positive impact on lives of MHC residents:
- Gifts of $25 can be used to purchase new games, puzzles, and a variety of resources for mindfulness for each resident.
Ever evolving public health directives mean our residents will be faced with less one-one-one time with recreation leaders and heightened visitor restrictions for the foreseeable future. With a person-centred approach, our long-term care team has proposed programming to make greater use of personalized items (to reduce sharing), while still providing meaningful activities. - Your generous gift of $50 could assist with the purchase of a set of books for a resident.
Reading engages important brain functions and book clubs can provide the feelings of inclusion and belonging – all critical elements in the quest for mental wellbeing. Book club sets that are specifically for adults with mild, moderate, or severe cognitive disabilities can provide a meaningful and independent activity. - Connecting through music is something that can be shared with all of our residents, and your generous gift of $100 could provide all the supplies necessary (including an MP3 player) for each resident.
Music is a shared activity that fosters connection, even virtually, between a non-verbal resident and their family. - When recreation facilitators are not able to be with our residents, your generous gift of $25/month ($300 annually) can help provide new Blu-ray players or smart TVs that can be used for programs and exercise, or even for engaging movie nights.
- Your generous gift of $500 could provide an entire unit with personalized therapeutic activity kits.
Personalized therapeutic activity kits provided to those who display responsive behaviours due to dementia or delirium, have been shown to reduce these behaviours and engage the clients in family visits. This is extremely important when family visits are being limited in frequency and duration.
